Emine Erdoğan attended the 8th International Ethnology Festival, held under the auspices of First Lady Tamara Vucic of Serbia, in Belgrade.

 

At the festival, a fashion show titled "Bridal Treasures: A Journey Through Ottoman and Anatolian Dowries," featuring 25 pieces, was held to showcase traditional bridal gowns from the Ottoman and Anatolian periods, prepared by maturation institutes.

 

In her speech before the fashion show, Emine Erdoğan recalled that they are revitalizing the Maturation Institutes, which have served as a bridge between the past and the future in Turkish culture since 1945, through the "Miracle of the Turkish Needle" project. She stated, "Our institutes translate the language of our textiles and embroidery, which bear the traces of thousands of years of history, as well as diverse geographies, climates, and discoveries, into the present day. In the hands of our masters, many traditional handicrafts reflecting Turkish culture achieve a unique interpretation in line with today's vision.

 

In a post on her social media account regarding the program, Erdoğan expressed her happiness about attending the International Ethnology Festival, stating, "It is a very valuable step for the promotion of our history and culture that Türkiye has been chosen as the 'focal country' in this special atmosphere where different cultures meet. Here today, we felt once again that despite our differences, we unite in the same deep human values. By being part of this universal bond through the fashion show featuring our traditional Ottoman and Anatolian bridal gowns produced by the Maturation Institutes, we have strengthened our ties of friendship.
